Raw Fleeces

Merinos are shorn once per year to get the longest possible staple length. Apple Creek Merinos are covered year round to protect their fleeces from the elements and to keep them as free from imperfections as possible. After shearing, fleeces are generously skirted and are picked clean of vegetable matter. Fleeces have a range of average fiber diameters from 15-23 microns, and all have a very low number of fibers over 30 microns, meaning a comfort factor of nearly 100%.

Apple Creek Merinos' breeding program focuses on producing unique, beautiful colors, long staple, and lots of character in the fleeces.
